How Have You Successfully Lost Weight?

August 31st, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

I am very overweight and have finally decided to do something about it. Before I go about it, I was wondering how you guys out there have successfully lost weight.I know the basic eat less/exercise more but i was wondering if there was something specific that helped you (ie- a certain diet, counting calories etc.) Please answer a few (preferably all) of the following questions. It’ll help a lot! Thanks so much.
What method worked best for you?
How much weight did you lose?
In what amount of time?
On a scale of 1-10, how hard was it to stick to this regime/diet?
Would you recommend this regime/diet to others?

I would TOTALLY recommend Weight Watchers…My mom lost about 50 lbs in about 3 months. by going. She said it was easy to follow the diet, because she could eat what she wanted in small quantities.
I lost 30 lbs over the course of 4 months just using diet and excercise. When I wanted something sweet to eat, I would buy some weight watchers desserts. They are sooo good.

Weight loss varies from person to person, between the genders, and your metabolism has a big part in the whole thing. But sticking with the dieting and exercising is what did it for me. I switched to a more balanced diet, eliminating soda and junk food (although there’d be a day or two every month where I’d go nuts if I didn’t eat something unhealthy). Drink tons of water. And take a multivitamin supplement every day.
My workouts were simply running at least 3 to 4 miles per day (over the summer, this switched to running 2x a day, 6 days a week), combined with lifting (start out using a resistance band, then switch to free weights), and yoga.
After 14 months of that, I have lost 60 pounds.
It wasn’t all that hard for me to stick to the exercise regimen or the diet, mostly because I was so dissatisfied with my body image and wanted to do something about it. Sure, there were summer nights when I would go to Wendy’s late at night to refuel my body, but I swear, it was for the protein!
